Background story: This is my BA (Hons) Fashion Degree final year collection.

Brief: I was tasked to design and develop Innovative textile manipulations during my BA (Hons) Fashion Degree course.

Approach: I’ve selected the theme Japanese Folklore for this final year collection. I began the design development process by doing mind map, researching inspiration and visual references, and slowly develop shapes of the designs. I’ve used different techniques together to create a unique outcome, such as marbling, silkscreen printing, repeated digital print, laser. Sometimes I keep the design simple, and sometimes I layer 2 different prints together for different outcomes. It was a very enjoyable process.

Challenge & Solution: The biggest challenge of this project is that I have transfer these ideas onto garments especially on different panels within one design, to create a clashed effect. I need to have perfect control on the position, pressure of silkscreen printing onto these panels to ensure the panel cut won’t be wasted.
