Background story: This is my BA (Hons) Fashion Degree final year collection.
Brief: I was tasked to design a fashion collection during my BA (Hons) Fashion Degree course.
Approach: I’ve selected the theme Japanese Folklore for this final year collection. Besides developing fashion collection, I’ve used this theme to design a series of prints to support the collection. I began the design development process by doing mind map, researching inspiration and visual references, and slowly develop silhouette, collage and sketches of the designs. Other than that, I’ve also created a series of prints and textile manipulations. I truly enjoyed the development process and proud of the final results.
Challenge & Solution: The biggest challenge of this project is that I have to go out of my comfort zone and explore other ways to approach the collection, where I developed a variety of prints and also explore unique shapes and panelling for the designs, to express the theme of the collection in a special way whilst making sure the collection is still wearable.
