Background story: This is a print design development based on theme Inverted world. This print was an extension of a fashion collection design for my client Lydia, and it was a really interesting project. The way I interpreted the theme Inverted World is to take inspiration on things that is the opposite or uncommon or unnatural, for example, normally human has two eyes, and it is position above the mouth and nose. In the inverted world, maybe it could be three or more, and positioned between nose and lips, so on and so forth.
Brief: I was tasked to design 2 repeated prints based on one of the design development, adhering to the theme inverted world.
Approach: I am inspired to create the repeated prints based on the oil paints of eyes and arranged them in a swirling manner, unevenly distributed and positioned, to create a unique repeated print that is out of the norm. Three colours are placed against each other to create depth.
Challenge & Solution: The biggest challenge of this project is to accurately reproduce the shape of the print design as close to the print shown on the sketch. I have to constantly adjust the placement of the colours to ensure the print look streamlined and pleasant to the eyes.
